Simon Kim | Founder & Director

I was born in Seoul, Korea in 1979 and now lives in Coventry, UK. I am an engineer with 20 years experience in Korea(5+) and UK(15+). In my professional career, I have been working in Powertrain engineering within Automotive and Defence(briefly) that involves working on the engine, motor, transmission, and related driveline & propulsion systems that deliver power to the vehicle's wheels.

I started my career as gearbox designer at Hyundai WIA in Korea and moved to the UK to work for Jaguar Land Lover in 2011 and delivered various transmissions there for 10 years until I joined REE Automotive, EV Start-up, in 2021. In my usual life I used to be an enthusiastic rock & ice climber but almost retired now and love nature & camping. At the moment I am passionate on skiing trip to Alps in the winter season. I love to get my body move in any way and my workout routine includes regular gym going for cardio & weight and weekly high-intensity class(e.g. DL Blaze, Hyrox, etc) and occasional half marathons. I used to be wine lover but am sober since March 2024.
